Can you imagine the kind of Team it takes to deliver craft lending?

Meet THEM

Jonathan Bundle, Chief Revenue Officer

There’s something you need to know about Jonathan Bundle that’s going to clarify why the words ‘Heartwood Chief Revenue Officer’ don’t just follow his name, they belong there. He’s a door kicker. Maybe being born in England gave him a Beckham foot, but that explanation’s too easy, it undersells his story. Truth is, his years of experience in finance were often about kicking open doors, solving problems, inciting change. As many Brokers know, Jonathan didn’t just lead the re-entry of HSBC to the broker market he made sure HSBC was the first lender to offer brokers the same rate across all distribution channels, enabling them to properly compete with the Big 5 banks—for the first time. As Heartwood’s first Chief Revenue Officer, you can expect Jonathan to continue putting his best foot forward, right smack into any doors that obstruct common sense from strengthening the mortgage lending market.

Nishant Shah, EVP Operations

First off, everyone calls him “Nish” (No, it doesn’t rhyme with ‘Niche” although he is one of-a-kind.) Nishant means "End of the night" in Sanskrit, which is illuminating, because Nish brings daylight and clarity to everything he does. His bio reads, “Nishant Shah is an accomplished operations and revenue executive with more than 15 years of leadership experience across financial services, fintech, consumer lending, and high-growth organizations.” What it doesn’t say is that Nish is an optimizer at heart. Making things run better, bridging the gap between revenue growth and operational execution is his daily cardio. Calm and collected is his factory setting. Nish’s email signature reads ‘EVP Operations’ but he’s not a “Look at my fancy corner office” kind of EVP. He’s an in your corner leader, supporting the Brokers and the talented Heartwood crew who report to him. Surprising fact about Nishant, he holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering. Expect great chemistry when you meet.

Reaza Ali, Heartwood National Business Development Manager

Forgive the business pun, but Reaza Ali really is the ‘real deal’. When you speak with Reaza, you’re not meeting with his representative, you’re meeting with Reaza. Lucky you. Words brokers use to describe Reaza? Unflappable, persistent, resourceful, but also open minded, pro-active and patient. Reaza refuses to let his three decades of experience get in the way of finding better ways of doing things. Which is why he feels right at home at Heartwood. He wouldn’t admit this out loud, but listening to Brokers is his love language, which explains why he’s been honoured multiple times as BDM of the Year at the Canadian Mortgage Awards and is a recipient of the Mortgage Awards of Excellence.  If you’ve been on a call with him, you know Reaza has a warm voice. It’s because he protects it by doing so much listening—before speaking. Anything else you need to know? Yeah. Reaza is a National Business Development Manager who briefs his team by saying “Pay more attention to what brokers need than what we can get from them.” His favourite words are “Funded” and “Next.” Yours will be, “Time to call Reaza.”

Sarah Lakhani, Heartwood BDM, Ontario

Everyone is about something. Sarah Lakhani is about connection. But is that her whole story? Not even close. As many of Canada’s leading Brokers know, Sarah is also about responsiveness, consistency, and transparency, words everyone uses but which Sarah lives by. As Heartwood’s first BDM she’s not filling anyone’s shoes, she brings her own. Drawing on twenty years working with A and B mortgage lenders, and private lenders, Sarah’s work gives new meaning to the title B.D.M. To Sarah it means Brokers Deserve More. More service. More access. More wins. That’s what she brings.

Angie Di Noto, Heartwood BDM, Ontario

No one ever meets the same Angie twice. You notice new things each time. When you first meet, you’ll quickly note how deeply she understands what matters to brokers. When you next meet, you’ll notice the craft and discipline she brings to structuring deals. Her decades spent as a BDM really show. Angie’s brain is a busy place, constantly occupied with simplifying complex deals, deepening relationships and helping brokers close with confidence. In fact, there’s nothing Angie does better than obsess over closing a deal— to everyone’s satisfaction. It’s one of her superpowers. She has others. Which, in the interest of suspense, you’ll have to discover for yourself when you meet her.

Giselle Dempsey, Heartwood BDM, Ontario

When you’re on a  Zoom with Giselle, a moment may occur when you’re tempted to think “Has the image frozen?” Trust us, it hasn’t. You’re simply looking at a mind deeply focused on really hearing you. Giselle brings to her work over a decade of expertise as a BDM with B2B Bank and HSBC. Her working style? Collaborative. Her attitude? Positive. Her vibe? High energy. When you look at  yourself in the mirror what do you see? Giselle sees herself staring down at her phone as her thumbs race to help a Broker close a deal. Did we mention Giselle’s famous for her responsiveness? This is the short version of Giselle’s bio. So, of course stuff is missing. If you want to learn more, then you must have curiosity…and lunch together sometime soon.

Brian Tamayo, Heartwood BDM, British Columbia

With an impressive track record as a licensed mortgage broker, Brian knows firsthand the pressures and demands brokers face. He’s topped up his coffee with Red bull too. But here’s the thing, Brian has also flexed his brain working in fulfillment and underwriting. He knows both sides. And how they work together. It’s why he likes to say that the  letters BDM stand for Brokers deserve more. What’s your toughest deal currently? Whether you're working a challenging file, want to test an idea, or just plain like the possibilities of working with a BDM who’s walked (hiked?) in your shoes, Brian will be a load-bearing ally you can count on to move mountains (don’t worry he won’t touch the ones outside your window) to craft a deal that balances speed and care, fairness and flexibility. He’s right in your backyard. He should be on your speed dial too.

Leadership is not about standing in front.

It's about letting talented people lead from wherever they are. Heartwood is going from strength to strength because this team has the experience, energy and skill to make craft lending feel personal, practical and possible. The craft is in the team we assemble.
